About The Company:
The Gyro Shack
My older sister had to teach me how to say the word correctly, the first time she took me to try one. Since then, it’s been one of my favorite foods. Luckily, I won’t have to wait until the fair’s in town, or for the next carnival to get my hands this particular delectible. The Turks call it the doner kebabi, the Arabs say shawurma. But we know what it is. It’s lunch. Or dinner.
The gyro (pronounced yee-roh), has a shell that’s fresh, chewy, soft and puffy. Finely sliced tomatoes and onions abound, and a sauce by the name of tzatziki (which Sis also had to teach me how to say) is just the right compliment to moist seasoned beef and lamb that’s shaved into thin, crispy strips right off the tall vertical spit. Zippy feta (pronounced fetta) cheese is added to top it all off. And it’s totally delish.
The New Yorkers picked it up in the early 1970’s, when gyros started to get wildly popular in the East, being marketing as Greek street food and welcomed by diners who were desperately looking for something new. The admiration of the sandwich that’s believed to be some 2,000 years old grew to gynormous proportions. Nowadays, there’s no need for a long-distance gyro run to the other side of the nation when we have The Gyro Shack on Overland Road. They’ve got lots of tasty options for your gyros like Kalamata olives, bacon and hummus. They even offer chicken and veggie gyros, if that’s your thing.
Taste the food that’s been described as ‘amazing’, ‘love at first bite’, and was given ‘a big thumbs up’ by reviewers around the Valley. One reviewing diner even gratefully told the Shack ‘Thank you for being in Boise’.
We at CitySmart want to thank you for being our supersmart shoppers by bringing you this perfectly seasoned deal: $10 worth of food and drink at the Gyro Shack for as little as five smackers. Click the “Buy Now” button and get a taste of a gyro that’ll make you say yee-haw.
When You Think Greek What Comes To Mind? It’s a gyro, isn’t it. Either that or the movie with the glass cleaner and the wedding, but it’s more likely to be a nice warm gyro. And even though I actually do own that movie, I don’t want to take it off the shelf quite as often as I’d like to eat a good fresh gyro from The Gyro Shack. So the food wins.
A Balanced, Healthy Meal-On-The-Go. Bread. Meat. Salad. Dairy. Your food pyramid would absolutely love you for having this sort of a meal. This is one choice your eighth grade health teacher would have approved of, and she didn't approve of much, if you'll recall.
Don’t Make The Same Mistake. It’s gyro like yee-roh, not gyro like gyro-scope. If you pronounce it incorrectly, my sister will probably appear out of nowhere and make you try it again, but the right way.
