The Legend of Lunch Counter: Eight respectably-sized waves of as good as it gets. According to legend, in the 1960’s, two friends were using their military surplus rafts to float the Snake River Canyon. They came around a corner at what is known as The Big Kahuna, thinking they’d go through it, then pull over and eat their lunch. However, they were surprised to see huge waves they’d never seen before. They asked each other what it was, and one man said, “Heck if I know; I haven’t been down there before!” A second man said, “Well, if we’re ever going to have our lunch, we are going to have it handed to us here!” Hence the name The Lunch Counter was born.
