About The Company:
Broadmore Country Club
They say that if you’re very fortunate in life, you’ll get to have a mentor. Such a mentor was my Auntie Flog. The advice she gave was pure gold. Allow me to share some of her wisdom with you:
Spend most of your life playing. Follow through. Live on greens. Keep both feet planted firmly on the ground. Take long walks. The greatest distance that you will ever traverse is the one between your ears. Forget about your opponents; always compete against yourself. Profanity never helped anything, but it might make you feel slightly better. People will always blame others for their misfortunes, but take personal responsibility for their victories. Play everyday, if you can; it’s much cheaper than a therapist. Play it where it is, and don’t wish for it to be different. No matter what your triumphs were the day before, you have to start over in the morning.
One last one: “You can’t quit mid-game. You have to finish.”
Auntie Flog was a wise mentor. But she really wasn’t ever anyone’s aunt, in fact. Because Flog is actually golf spelled backwards, as some of you might have already guessed. It was golf that taught those life-lessons, and it’s there to mentor anyone, (even a hard-headed writer-type like me.)
Enter the historical Broadmore Country Club, opened in 1930. Golfing here could quite possibly be your key to life! Especially at signature hole number two, which is a 371 yard, par four; it’s got a pond on the left and a creek on the right. Life’s lesson, coming right up! CitySmart’s got a character-creating offer for you; 18 holes of golf, a golf cart, and a medium bucket of balls can be yours by clicking the “Buy Now” button for around twelve dollars and fifty cents, even though you’d regularly pay $25. A small price to pay for a (golf) course in life, cleverly disguised as fun. Oh, and tell dear Auntie Flog I said hello.
To Hit the Pause Button. Take a break from the routine and leave it all behind. 18 holes can take up to four hours; enough time to unwind. Besides that, just try to think of any other sport that allows you to stop whenever you want to, grab some beverages and a bite to eat, then pick up where you left off.
To Be One With Nature. The trees, the sounds of birds, being near the water….Ahhhh. Everyone will know you’ve been out golfing, just by the aura of serenity about you. That golfer’s glow is awfully tough to beat.
For Mind Control. Golf not only teaches you to fight, to keep pushing, to never give up, but it also teaches how to breathe, settle and calm yourself, and to relax. It exercises the most important part of your body; that being your mind.
